I'm telling you, I could eat hummus with a sweet Moroccan onion sauce all day! Hummus, the creamy chickpea spread, is not a traditional Moroccan dish. However, chickpeas are also called hummus in Morocco and they are used for many other dishes (e.g. for this tagine with chickpeas). That's why I came up with this hummus with a Moroccan twist. The result: Hummus with a sweet raisin and onion sauce - the two go sooo well together (who knows, maybe they'll get married soon 😉).
For hummus with sweet Moroccan onion sauce you need:

400 g cooked or canned chickpeas
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
2 tsp tahini
2 tsp salt
½ lemon (juice)
100 ml cold water
- Sweet moroccan onion sauce
1 big onion
30 g raisins
1 tsp extra virgin olive oil
A pinch of salt, cinnamon and pepper
50 ml water
- Prepare the onion sauce using this recipe
- Use a hand blender or stand mixer to puree all of the ingredients until the hummus is creamy.
- Spread the hummus on a plate and garnish with the sauce and olive oil.
